The Alcalá de Guadaíra Town Hall will open the second section of the redevelopment of Malasmañanas Street on Saturday, September 26, between Diego López de Haro and Joaquín Hazañas. Phase 3, the last section up to the roundabout, will keep Escultor Ruiz Gijón closed until October 9.
The redevelopment of Malasmañanas Street in Alcalá de Guadaíra progresses with the opening of its Phase 2 this Saturday, September 26. The stretch, which runs from Diego López de Haro to Joaquín Hazañas, is once again available for vehicles, businesses, and pedestrians after months of construction.
With this opening, phases 1 and 2 are fully operational, while work now focuses on Phase 3, the final segment of the road up to the roundabout. This final phase extends from Joaquín Hazañas to its junction with Esteban Domínguez.
As a result of this work, Escultor Ruiz Gijón Street will remain closed to traffic until October 9 at its intersection with Malasmañanas, near the roundabout. The Town Hall recommends that drivers use alternative routes during these weeks.
The project has a budget of 2,835,794 euros and is driven by the Alcalá de Guadaíra Town Hall, in collaboration with Sevilla Provincial Council and EMASESA. The first phase was executed between Plaza de la Industria and Diego López de Haro; the second, now completed, from Diego López de Haro to Joaquín Hazañas; and the third, currently underway, from Joaquín Hazañas to Esteban Domínguez.
The transformation of this central street is a response to its age, wear, and outdated design. The project includes the planting of trees, which were previously non-existent, lighting with LED technology, and new street furniture. The sidewalks will be wider, and pedestrian areas will gain safety, with a reorganisation of traffic and parking that will not result in the loss of any spaces.
In the hydraulic sector, a new, larger capacity sewer collector is being installed, managed by the public water company, with a budget exceeding one million euros. This infrastructure will enhance the safety of the urban area during heavy rain episodes. The sustainable remodeling of the urban landscape is being developed by the Town Hall through the Provincial Council's cooperation program Plan Más Sevilla.
