Mayor Ana Isabel Jiménez signs an agreement of 12,000 euros with Peña Flamenca La Soleá to promote its annual activities and the XXXIII National Flamenco Singing Competition.
The City Council of Alcalá de Guadaíra has sealed a collaboration agreement with Peña Flamenca La Soleá, resulting in a municipal contribution of 12,000 euros. The signing took place between the mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, and the president of the entity, Antonio Durán.
The money will be used to cover the activities that the peña develops throughout the year, with particular attention to the organisation of the XXXIII Edition of the National Flamenco Singing Competition, an event that each season brings together performers from various backgrounds.
Jiménez emphasised the role of the peña in preserving flamenco, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and linked the agreement to municipal support for local traditions and artists.
“Without a doubt, it is a major attraction for high-quality singers not only from Andalusia but from other communities in Spain, who leave a great level in each edition, while also contributing to maintaining and fostering local enthusiasm.”
The municipal delegate for Culture, Christopher Rivas, also spoke at the event, defending the need to support groups with years of work in preserving cultural identity. Rivas described the peña's trajectory as impeccable and noted that its work endures in the present of the city and projects into the future.
The text of the agreement goes beyond financial aid: it includes close collaboration in the activities promoted by the peña, with support for its public events and shows, as well as initiatives related to flamenco organised by the City Council, which will be disseminated among the entity's members.
The president of La Soleá, Antonio Durán, valued the agreement as a way to continue spreading the passion for flamenco and ensuring its continuity among new generations.
“This agreement continues to open new opportunities for us to spread our passion for flamenco and contribute to its continuity among new generations.”
The City Council emphasises that the peña has become a reference space for enthusiasts coming from many parts of Spain.
The contribution will allow Peña Flamenca La Soleá to maintain its stable programming and face a new edition of the national competition, which will be held this year in Alcalá de Guadaíra.
