Alcalá de Guadaíra activates the Glorias II Plan for the feast of its patron saint

The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has launched a special device for the events in honour of Santa María del Águila Coronada, starting this Thursday with the Novena.

The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has activated the Glorias II Plan, the special security, cleaning, and traffic device for the development of the events in honour of the patron saint, Santa María del Águila Coronada. The celebration begins this Thursday, August 6, with the start of the Novena, which will last until August 14.

The morning and afternoon mass will gather numerous locals around the Sanctuary of the Eagle. The plan, coordinated with the Council of Brotherhoods and Cofradías, will involve the municipal departments of Governance, Urban Habitat, Traffic, Local Police, Firefighters, and the municipal company Aira Gestión Ambiental, as well as the collaboration of the National Police Corps and Civil Protection.

The delegate for Natural Monument, Environment, and Sustainability, Luisa Campos, explained that the preliminary work has consisted of repainting and conditioning the entire area around the Eagle, the area of the fountain in front of the Torre Mocha, and the Cuesta de Santa María. “It will culminate with flowers around the Sanctuary,” she detailed.

Meanwhile, the delegate for Major Festivals, Rocío Bastida, thanked the efforts of all the departments involved and highlighted the work of the Eagle brotherhood “as part of the culture, heritage, and even social work towards the community.”

Cult Programme

The solemn Novena will be held from August 6 to 14. The Prayer of the Holy Rosary and the Holy Mass will take place at 8:10 am, and the Novena Exercise at 9:30 pm. The preaching will be led by the Rev. Father D. Pedro Sola Sola.

The main day will be August 15, with the Principal Function of the Institute at 8:00 am in the esplanade of the Sanctuary and the processional departure of the Virgin of the Eagle starting at 9:00 pm.

The religious events will culminate on Sunday August 23 with the Campaign Mass at 8:00 am in the esplanade and the subsequent exposition of the Patroness in devoted Besamanos.

The device also includes traffic regulation in the areas surrounding the Sanctuary during the processions and mass events, with punctual cuts that will be announced in advance through municipal channels.
