The association AFA Aljarafe is organising the talk 'Perspectives on Alzheimer’s' in Palomares del Río on September 18, from 11:00 to 12:30, at Calle Mairena 3-5. It will include a cognitive screening test for attendees.
The association AFA Aljarafe has scheduled a sensitisation talk on Alzheimer’s under the title “Perspectives on Alzheimer’s”. It will take place on September 18, from 11:00 to 12:30, at Calle Mairena 3-5 in the locality.
This initiative is part of the commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Day, which is celebrated on September 21, and aims to provide practical information to residents and families about cognitive decline and support for the elderly.
During the session, the early warning signs of the disease will be explained, along with how to identify if someone may be developing Alzheimer’s. Available medications and other non-pharmacological treatments that assist in daily life will also be discussed.
Another central point will be the role of family associations, such as AFA Aljarafe, and the importance of caregivers’ work. Resources and support available for affected individuals and their surroundings will be detailed.
“Every memory counts and behind every gaze, there is a story that deserves to be cared for and understood.”
Attendees will be able to participate in a cognitive screening test to check, in a preliminary way, if there are indications compatible with Alzheimer’s or other types of memory decline. The talk will answer questions such as what to do in the face of early memory lapses, what the most important symptoms are, how to act when they affect daily life, and what role the family environment plays.
The activity is open to all residents of Palomares del Río and the rest of the region. The organisation reminds that empathy and information are fundamental tools for facing the disease.
