The Mairena del Aljarafe Town Hall has opened the tender process to install 12 secure parking spaces for bicycles and scooters, with a budget of €575,718 co-financed by the EU. Companies can submit bids until 19 July.

The Mairena del Aljarafe Town Hall has initiated the tender to create a network of 12 secure parking spaces for bicycles and scooters, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable mobility in the municipality. The base budget amounts to €575,718, VAT included, and is co-financed by the European Union through the ERDF funds.

Interested companies have until 19 July to submit their bids for the supply and installation of these modules. The project is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) 'Mairena Connected', which has a total allocation of nine million euros from the Local Integrated Development Strategy (EDIL).

Features of the parking spaces

Each module will have a minimum capacity of 20 spaces with closed individual lockers, designed to accommodate both bicycles and scooters. Additionally, there will be space to store helmets and other personal items, providing a comprehensive solution for users.

The parking spaces will feature LED lighting, electric charging points for electric vehicles, and electronic locking systems. Access will be via a mobile application that will allow users to check the availability of spaces in real-time and make prior reservations, facilitating travel planning.

The network will be operational 24 hours a day throughout the year, and will have a management platform accessible from mobile devices and the web, with updated information on the occupancy of each parking space. This will allow residents of Mairena del Aljarafe to optimise their routes and avoid unnecessary trips.

Boosting sustainable mobility

With this initiative, the Mairena Town Hall continues to bet on more sustainable, comfortable, and connected mobility. The initiative is part of the PAI 'Mairena Connected', a programme that promotes urban, social, environmental, and digital transformation projects in the municipality.

The project is included in the municipal initiative 'Yesterday Today Mairena', which encompasses various actions funded by European funds. In total, the PAI has nine million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), managed by the Ministry of Finance.

For residents of Mairena del Aljarafe, this network of parking spaces represents a step forward in the commitment to non-polluting transport. The possibility of charging electric vehicles and securely storing helmets removes barriers that may have previously deterred the use of bicycles or scooters for daily journeys, such as going to work, to the health centre, or running errands.

The Town Hall expects the installation of the modules to begin in the coming months, once the contract is awarded. Residents will be able to check the exact location of each parking space once the tender process is completed and the final distribution is determined.

With this project, Mairena del Aljarafe joins other municipalities in the metropolitan area of Seville that have already launched similar initiatives to promote active mobility. The network of secure parking spaces aims to become a benchmark in the Aljarafe region, demonstrating that it is possible to combine sustainability and comfort in daily life.
