The Mairena del Aljarafe Town Hall launches the fifth axis of the Mairena Al Día plan, focused on repairing damaged tree pits, replacing lost trees, and improving street accessibility.
The Mairena del Aljarafe Town Hall activated this Thursday, September 17 the tree pit renovation service, the fifth of the six axes of the Mairena Al Día plan. The initiative has a budget of around €410,000 and will focus on repairing damaged tree pits, replacing lost trees, and improving accessibility and the condition of green areas.
The work will include repairing the pavements surrounding the tree pits when roots have caused breaks or unevenness. The aim is to restore pedestrian access and facilitate the movement of residents. Some tree pits will also be expanded where possible, always respecting the minimum space for pedestrian passage.
The service will replace trees in empty tree pits and recondition garden areas that have lost their vegetation. The actions will be adapted to the different types of tree pits in the municipality: those affected by root growth will be repaired, specimens will be replaced in empty spaces, and linear tree pits located next to roads and garden areas will be renewed. These measures also aim to facilitate the subsequent maintenance of these spaces.

This was stated by the mayor, Antonio Conde, who also noted that "we will also replace the missing trees and recover garden areas to improve our neighbourhoods and make everyday life more pleasant."
This initiative is part of Mairena Al Día, the plan with which the Town Hall is investing €11.3 million to modernise six major essential services: gardening, pavements, lighting, tree pits, painting of CEIP, and the Citizen Services fleet. During the presentation, Conde acknowledged that these "basic services were becoming inadequate," that they "are key to the quality of life for residents," and that "from this self-demand, we are deploying this modernisation."

The launch of Mairena Al Día is the result of work initiated in 2023, following the renewal of the street cleaning service. With this action, the residents of Mairena del Aljarafe will see improvements in streets and green areas in the coming months, with better-maintained tree pits and replaced trees.
