Mairena awards €410,000 for the renovation of its tree pits

The Mairena del Aljarafe City Council has awarded the fifth axis of the Mairena Al Día plan, with a budget of around €410,000 to repair tree pits and replace trees.

The City Council of Mairena del Aljarafe has awarded the renovation of the tree pits in the municipality, the fifth of the six major axes of the Mairena Al Día plan. The contract, endowed with around €410,000, will serve to repair the damaged tree pits, replace lost trees, and improve the accessibility and appearance of various public spaces.

The mayor, Antonio Conde, explained that the action will allow for "continuing to improve essential and everyday services in Mairena, with better-maintained tree pits, more accessible streets, and more comfortable public spaces for our residents." Conde added that the missing trees will also be replaced and garden areas will be recovered to "improve our neighbourhoods and make everyday life more pleasant."

The work will include the repair of pavements surrounding the tree pits when roots have caused breaks or unevenness, in order to restore pedestrian access. Some tree pits will also be expanded where possible, as long as the minimum space for pedestrian transit is respected. Additionally, trees in empty tree pits will be replaced, and garden areas that have lost vegetation will be refurbished.

This action is part of Mairena Al Día, the plan with which the City Council invests €11.3 million to modernise six essential services: tree pits, gardening, pavements, lighting, school painting, and the citizen service fleet. During the presentation of the plan, Conde acknowledged that these basic services "were becoming inadequate" and that they are "key to the quality of life of the residents." The mayor defended that "the Mairena government has great future projects, but also everyday ones."

The Mairena Al Día plan is the result of work initiated in 2023, following the renewal of the street cleaning service. With this award, the municipality is advancing in the improvement of its public spaces, with a direct impact on the daily lives of residents, who will see more accessible streets and better-maintained green areas.
