The Municipal School Council of Gines met this Tuesday to coordinate the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. The non-school days were agreed upon: April 16 and May 28, which are added to the local holidays of May 12 and May 27.
The Municipal School Council of Gines held its initial meeting this Tuesday to prepare for the 2026/2027 school year. The meeting was attended by directors of local educational centres, representatives of parent associations, the mayor Romualdo Garrido, and the Education delegate, David Ostos.
One of the most concrete agreements was the designation of the non-school days. By majority vote of those present, Friday, April 16 and Friday, May 28 were chosen. These days are in addition to the two local holidays: May 12, coinciding with the Carriages' Departure to Rocío, and May 27, for Corpus Christi.
The non-school calendar is completed with the Provincial Non-School Day, set for January 8, and the Educational Community Day, which will be on February 26. These days are in addition to the usual national and regional holidays.
During the session, the heads of each centre made an initial assessment of the start of the school year. All agreed on the very positive evaluation of the Town Hall's efforts to prepare the schools, as highlighted in the meeting.
However, the need to improve resources for diversity support was also raised. Participants pointed out that this responsibility lies with the Junta de Andalucía and that there are still aspects to be reinforced in this area.
With this meeting, Gines finalises the coordination for the upcoming school year. The meeting served for educational centres, families, and the Town Council to share criteria before the start of classes and to confirm the days when there will be no school activities.
