The Sevillian municipality will celebrate its Fair from September 15 to 20 with concerts by Falete, Las Carlotas, Nolasco, and the chirigota del Bizcocho, as well as traditional contests and a closing with 200 drones over the river.
The Fair of Coria del Río now has a start date: the lighting will be switched on the night of Tuesday, September 15 and the festivities will last until Sunday, September 20. Over six days, the municipality will combine parades, contests, sports, and musical performances at the municipal tent.
The closing will once again be one of the most anticipated moments. On the night of Sunday, September 20, 200 drones will fly over the Guadalquivir in a visual spectacle that replaced fireworks last year. The change allows those with auditory hypersensitivity to enjoy the end of the festivities without the noise of fireworks.
The mayor, Modesto González, explained that the programme is the result of months of coordination between municipal delegations and the services involved in the Fair.
“The Fair is the result of many months of work and, above all, of the coordination between the different municipal delegations and all the people and services involved so that the residents of Coria and those who visit us can enjoy these days with all guarantees.”
González also referred to the economic impact that the celebration generates in local commerce and hospitality.
“Our Fair is a meeting point and a place for coexistence, but it also provides a significant boost to the economic activity of the municipality. During these days, many establishments such as hospitality, food, aesthetics, fashion, etc., see increased activity; it is a great engine for economic dynamism.”
Local artists will perform alongside well-known names such as Nolasco, Falete, Las Carlotas, or the Chirigota del Bizcocho on the stage of the municipal tent. Music will alternate with contests for flamenco dresses, horse riders, river cucañas, and sack and ribbon races, among other activities.
As a new measure, the Coria del Río Town Hall will distribute wristbands to detect the presence of narcotic substances, a further step in preventing gender violence during the fair nights.
The complete programme will take place between September 15 and September 20 at the fairgrounds, with proposals for all audiences and children's activities.
