Coria del Río City Council has begun the comprehensive renovation of the Promenade, with a municipal investment of one million euros. This is the largest intervention in this space since its creation over thirty years ago.

Works are already underway on the Promenade of Coria del Río. The project covers more than 7,000 square meters of riverside promenade and is fully funded by one million euros from the municipal budget, according to the Coria del Río City Council.

The works are divided into three sections. The first runs from the restaurant Esturión to the intersection of calle Batán with avenida de Andalucía. There, the pavement will be replaced, the rainwater drainage improved, and the current balustrade will be replaced with a stainless steel railing designed to provide better views over the Guadalquivir. Additionally, rest islands will be created.

The second section, between calle Batán and the dock, will also feature new pavement. It includes the repair of the concrete parapet and the installation of new benches. In the final stretch, between the dock and the mouth of the arroyo Riopudio, the same model will be followed, with light boxes for the Fair that will not affect the pavement.

The mayor of Coria del Río, Modesto González, emphasises that this project was highly anticipated by the residents. He explains that the promenade is part of the Public Maritime-Terrestrial Domain, which is why the process required years of claims to the competent Ministry.

Finally, the council obtained authorisation to carry out the work directly and will assume its financing. The mayor summarised it when announcing the project:

“We cannot allow our promenade to continue deteriorating.”

The promenade is a landmark for residents and visitors, who use it daily for walking and being by the river. The expected execution period is six months, so there will be restricted areas during that time. Those who wish to follow the schedule can check it on the City Council's channels.
