Mayor Carmen Herrera and the president of Castilleja CF, Francisco Fidel Solano, have inaugurated the renovation of the municipal stadium, which includes new grass, an irrigation system, and perimeter protections.

The Antonio Almendro Municipal Stadium in Castilleja de la Cuesta has unveiled a completely renewed image this week. The mayor, Carmen Herrera, accompanied by the president of Castilleja CF, Francisco Fidel Solano, presided over the inauguration of the improvement works, which involved an investment funded by the Sevilla Provincial Council.

The most notable action has been the complete replacement of the grass on the playing field, which now offers better technical performance for sports practice. As Herrera explained during the event, the aim was to provide facilities that are “modern, safe, and of higher quality” ahead of the new season.

In addition to the new grass, the renovation included a complete overhaul of the irrigation system, the replacement of the protective nets and perimeter fences, the access gate, and the electronic scoreboard. Painting and masonry work has also been carried out in various areas of the venue.

The mayor emphasised the importance of this investment for local sports. “We continue to bet on grassroots sports, in collaboration with Castilleja CF. With this grass renovation, we ensure that our athletes can enjoy a field in the best conditions from the start of the season,” she stated.

The event was attended by councillors from the City Council, members of the club's board of directors, and children from the sports schools, who were able to see the results of the works firsthand before the start of the season.

The City Council has highlighted that this intervention will optimise sports performance and promote the development of training and competitions, both for Castilleja CF and for the schools and regular users. The stadium is used throughout the year by hundreds of athletes from the municipality.

Herrera also wanted to highlight the collaboration between the City Council and the clubs. “We continue to improve and work, always in collaboration and with the support of the clubs, to enhance and strengthen the sports facilities in Castilleja de la Cuesta, so that they continue to be a reference in the province of Sevilla,” she assured.

With this action, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of municipal sports infrastructures, promoting quality spaces that encourage sports practice and contribute to the well-being of the community. The new grass is already ready to host the first matches of the upcoming season.
