The Town Hall of Lora del Río has presented an artistic intervention on two dry trees in Llano de Jesús to pay tribute to blood, organ and tissue donors, with the presence of the mayor and the health delegate.
The Town Hall of Lora del Río inaugurated this Thursday an artistic intervention on two dry trees in Llano de Jesús, a space that aims to become a permanent tribute to blood, organ and tissue donors. The event, held mid-morning, was attended by the mayor, Antonio Enamorado; the territorial delegate of Health and Consumption in Seville, Silvia Pozo; councillor Vanessa Serrano; the president of the Association of Blood, Tissue and Organ Donors of Seville, Rafael Hernández Izquierdo; and the artist Adrián Pérez from the Manomatic studio, who created the paintings.
During the event, the mayor announced that the Town Hall will bring to the next Plenary the proposal to name this space as Plaza de los Donantes de Sangre y de Órganos. “We want this area to be a tribute to the donors, because we are talking about a place with a lot of visibility, located at one of the entrances to our municipality and through which the Cercanías and Media Distancia trains circulate daily,” Enamorado pointed out.
The territorial delegate of Health, Silvia Pozo, highlighted the importance of such initiatives. “Behind every donation is a gesture of enormous generosity that can mean the difference between life and death for many people,” she stated. Pozo reminded that the province of Seville has a “deeply supportive” citizenry and emphasised that this commitment should be reflected in public spaces.
The artist Adrián Pérez explained that the challenge has been significant, as it involves painting on two dry trees at one of the natural entrances to Lora del Río. “We wanted to take advantage of these two elements to create a tribute to the donors, something we have reflected in our two paintings,” he indicated. Pérez added that it has been a work done “with much pleasure and pride” due to the message of solidarity it conveys.
For his part, Rafael Hernández Izquierdo, president of the Association of Blood, Tissue and Organ Donors of Seville, thanked the Town Hall and the mayor for their commitment. “There are already 74 municipalities in the province of Seville that have public spaces dedicated to honouring donors, and we are proud to continue expanding this network,” he pointed out.
With this intervention, the Town Hall of Lora del Río seeks to make Llano de Jesús, one of the most visible and trafficked spaces in the municipality, a permanent symbol of solidarity and gratitude towards those who, with their altruistic gesture, contribute to saving lives. The action adds to other awareness initiatives about the importance of blood, organ and tissue donation.
