The La Rinconada City Council has delivered 270 scholarships of 70 euros for school supplies for the Second Cycle of Early Childhood Education, at an event at the Cultural Centre of La Villa.

Families in La Rinconada with children in the Second Cycle of Early Childhood Education received a total of 270 book vouchers of 70 euros each for the purchase of school supplies this Thursday. The delivery, made at the Cultural Centre of La Villa, is part of the City Council's educational aid package, which this year exceeds 300,000 euros in total investment.

Requirements and functioning of the aid

To access these scholarships, students must be registered in La Rinconada and their families must not exceed 70% of the annual IPREM. The vouchers can be redeemed at local businesses participating in the agreement, which, according to the Primary Education delegate, Rafael Reyes, "not only helps families but also generates an economic boost in our bookstores and local shops."

More than 1,000 beneficiaries in total

These 270 scholarships are in addition to the 300 scholarships of 120 euros for Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, and the 257 university scholarships of 400 euros (200 for distance education). In total, the City Council allocates around 130,000 euros to these direct aids, a figure that rises to 300,000 when including the First Opportunity scholarships, Erasmus, subsidies to AMPAS and educational centres, and the support assistant service for the Early Childhood Cycle.

The municipal head of Early Childhood Education, Mercedes Bueno, emphasized that "institutional support must start from the earliest stages" and that these aids "ensure that no child in La Rinconada starts the school year at a disadvantage due to their family's economic situation."

In addition to the scholarships, the City Council fully finances the maintenance of educational centres, municipal early childhood schools, and educational outreach events. For families in La Rinconada, this represents relief during the September expenses, as the book voucher covers a significant part of the school supplies for the year.
