Rinconero athlete Francisco Javier Tejada wins the XVIII Night Race of La Rinconada with a time of 28:16. German Lilli Kollmeier wins in the women's category with 31:47.
The XVIII Night Race of La Rinconada brought together over 700 participants in a record edition. Rinconero Francisco Javier Tejada Fernández, from Running Triana, crossed the finish line in first position with a time of 28:16. The race, consisting of 4 kilometres per lap and two laps, started from the Plaza de España.
Tejada, who was silver in the previous edition, completed the first lap in the lead group without being the leader. In the second lap, he set his pace and pulled away towards victory. The men's podium was completed by David Caballero, from Ohmio Arahal, with 28:47, and Miguel Arjona Ramírez, with 28:53.
In the women's category, the winner was German Lilli Kollmeier with a time of 31:47. The second position went to Inmaculada Santos Carmona, from Entreno al Fallo Team, with 35:11, and the third place was taken by Julia Morales Basallote with 38:18.
The men's master category saw the victory of Miguel Ángel Moreno Velázquez, from E.P.A. Miguel Ríos, with 28:32. He was followed by Juan Antonio Benítez Romero, from C.A.R. La Rinconada, who repeated silver and improved his time from last year, with 28:34, and César Arquelladas del Valle, from C.A. Virgen de Belén, with 28:52.
In the women's master category, Isabel Román Rodríguez, from CDA Bormujos, took victory with 32:13. The second place went to Yolanda Torres Blanco with 35:34 and the third to Mayte Morales Carballar with 37:26.
The Sports Delegate, Francisco José Rodríguez, highlighted the participation and the message of sustainable mobility. "Another edition where it is demonstrated that the citizens have engaged with this event, we have filled the streets of La Rinconada with colour and a clear message: sustainable mobility. This year we have reached adulthood, being already a consolidated event that demonstrates the sporting and organisational strength of the municipality, something we will showcase with the candidacy for European City of Sport in 2028. Furthermore, we have made a change that we believe has been beneficial for the event, as now, the awards ceremony takes place in the Plaza Rodríguez Montes, further energising the local commerce and celebrating the presentation in an emblematic location in the historic centre of La Rinconada," he stated.
The event gathered runners from places such as Madrid, Germany, Barcelona, and Mali, reinforcing the international character of the event. This year, the awards ceremony was moved to the Plaza Rodríguez Montes, in the historic centre, with the aim of boosting local commerce.
