The event Perspectives on Alzheimer's brought together residents and families this Friday in the municipal hall of Social Services in Palomares del Río. The activity, organised by Afaaljarafe in collaboration with the Town Hall of Palomares del Río, was part of the commemoration of World Alzheimer's Day.
The delegate of Palomares Saludable, Carlos Franco, was present at the meeting, which also involved the area of Palomares Inclusivo. During the session, attendees received practical information on how to identify the early symptoms of the disease, what medications and non-pharmacological treatments are available, and what role family associations play in supporting patients.
Another point addressed was the situation of caregivers. Their daily work was explained, and tools that can assist them in their tasks were introduced. Additionally, the event included a cognitive screening test, an indicative test that allowed participants to reflect on possible memory lapses and learn the steps to take if these begin to affect daily routines.
This initiative is part of the awareness activities that the municipality develops around this disease. According to municipal sources, the aim is to provide residents with resources and guidance on a problem that affects an increasing number of families.
