Guillena opens the radio workshop 'Seniors on the Air' for those over 60

The La Estación Civic Centre in Guillena hosts the 'Seniors on the Air' workshop, offering 40 hours of radio training for those over 60.

The La Estación Civic Centre in Guillena hosts the 'Seniors on the Air' workshop since October 8, an initiative by EMA-RTV, La Caixa Foundation, the Town Hall, and Onda Guillena Radio to promote active participation among older people through radio.

Older residents of Guillena aged 60 and above who wish to learn about radio have an appointment starting October 8. On that day, the 'Seniors on the Air' workshop kicks off at the La Estación Civic Centre, a project aimed at giving a voice to this group and improving their social image.

The activity will take place every Tuesday in October and November, from 10:00 to 12:00. The programme includes 40 hours of training in production techniques, scripting, and radio recording.

As a culmination, participants will create a collective radio programme where they will put into practice everything they have learned. This programme will later be broadcast on Onda Guillena Radio and in the programming of Onda Local de Andalucía, which includes nearly a hundred municipal and community radio stations.

The project is promoted by EMA-RTV in collaboration with the La Caixa Foundation, the Guillena Town Hall, and the municipal radio station. In this 2026 edition, it is also being held in Chipiona (Cádiz), Aracena (Huelva), Pizarra (Málaga), and Rute (Córdoba), through their respective local stations.

Interested individuals can register at the Senior Care Area, located in the Municipal Social Services Centre of Guillena. The initiative focuses on women over 60, a group that receives special attention in this edition.

"The project uses radio as a tool to promote active ageing, improve the social image of older Andalusians, and ensure that this group has its own spaces and a leading voice in local media," highlights EMA-RTV.

Since its launch in 2018, more than 1,000 older people have participated in this initiative across Andalusia. The workshop is part of the awareness-raising and educational actions promoted by EMA-RTV.

Registration is now open for those who wish to be part of this radio experience in Guillena.
