From July 30 to August 2, the district of Alcalá del Río celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities in honour of San Ignacio de Loyola with an inclusive programme.

San Ignacio del Viar, a district of Alcalá del Río, is all set for its Patron Saint Festivities in honour of San Ignacio de Loyola, which will take place from July 30 to August 2. Over four days, the town will bring together locals and visitors in an event that the Town Hall describes as one of the most important of the summer.

The programme kicks off with the lighting of the decorations and the traditional fishing, an appetizer that marks the start of the events. This will be followed by the Foam Party, aimed at a younger audience, and a dinner tribute to the elderly, featuring performances by Miguel Zerpa alongside Esther Florencio.

The musical section will also include a tribute to the Sevillanas, a nod to Andalusian culture that has become a regular feature. Additionally, during the weekend, free community lunches will be organised so that no one misses out on participating, and the finale will be marked by a fireworks display.

The programme also includes religious events, with the Main Function and the Solemn Procession of San Ignacio de Loyola as central moments. The image of the saint will parade through the streets of the district accompanied by the faithful, in a tradition that remains alive year after year.

One of the repeated innovations is the commitment to an inclusive fair. For one hour each day, the fairgrounds will be noise-free so that individuals with auditory sensitivity or special needs can enjoy the festivities in a calmer environment.

“We invite all residents and visitors to share these days of joy, tradition, and coexistence,” state the Alcalá del Río Town Hall.

The fair of San Ignacio del Viar is held every year at the end of July, coinciding with the feast day of the saint, and is one of the most anticipated events in the summer calendar in the Vega del Guadalquivir. The organisation recommends checking the full programme through the official channels of the Town Hall to not miss any events.
