The booths of the Velá de Triana can close until 4 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, one hour later than in previous years. The City Council of Seville also authorises the extension of terrace hours in various streets of the neighbourhood.
The City Council of Seville launched a special operation for the Velá de Triana on Tuesday, July 21, which will last until Sunday, July 26. The main novelty of this edition is the extended hours for booths and terrace tables, which can open until 4 AM during the central days of the festival.
According to the City Council, the hours for the booths will be from 8 PM to 4 AM on July 23, 24, and 25. On other days, the closing time is set for 3 AM, except for Sunday, July 26, which will be at 1 AM on Monday, July 27. This measure affects the booths installed in the Triana neighbourhood, one of the most anticipated events of the Seville summer.
Terraces with Special Hours
The Urban Planning Management has authorised the extension of hours for terrace tables on Betis, Altozano, San Jorge, and Callao streets. The owners of these establishments can choose to set up high tables without chairs to speed up service, maintaining the same capacity allowed in their licence. Those who prefer to keep tables with chairs must remove them by 9 PM.
The validity period of these measures starts at 8 PM on July 21 and extends until 1 AM on the 27th. During July 21 and 22, the terraces can close at 3 AM; on July 23, 24, and 25, until 4 AM; and on Sunday 26, at 1 AM. Residents and visitors of Triana can enjoy the evening without rush, although the City Council reminds that noise must comply with municipal regulations.
Transport and Mobility Adapted for the Festival
To facilitate access to the neighbourhood, the taxi stop on Arjona Street with the Isabel II Bridge will remain, and two new temporary stops will be installed on Pagés del Corro, operating from 10 PM to 6 AM. The Arjona taxi stop is one of the most used by attendees, and the extension aims to avoid overcrowding.
Additionally, the special operation includes reinforcements in street cleaning and security, with the presence of the Local Police in the busiest areas. The City Council recommends using public transport to get to Triana, especially during the nights of higher activity.
Cultural Programming and Awards
The Velá de Triana is not just about hours and terraces; its cultural programming began on July 14 with the photographic exhibition ‘Triana and its People, a Portrait of a Neighbourhood’ by Juan Romero Prieto, at the Las Columnas Civic Centre, which can be visited until July 31. The opening speech for this edition will be given by historian Jesús Pozuelo on Wednesday at Altozano.
Among the new features is a salon bullfighting exhibition organised by the Tomás Campuzano Bullfighting School, on Wednesday in the pedestrian section of San Jacinto at 10 AM. Traditions such as the procession of the Virgen del Carmen (July 17), a petanque tournament, and the unveiling of a ceramic piece at the Escalerilla del Tagüa have already taken place.
On Sunday, at 10 PM in Altozano, the Velá awards will be presented. Those recognised as Trianeros de Honor will include guitarist Joselito Acedo, foreman Manuel Jesús Garduño Lara, Cuchillería Castilla, Juan Carlos Sánchez Rivero, the brother of the Cachorro José Luis Aldea Carbajo, Carmen Coronado, and Esteban Romera Domínguez. The Trianeros del Año will be journalists José Antonio Rodríguez Benítez and Alejandra Navarro González; and the Trianeros Adoptivos will be Jessica Brea Morillo, Sebas Amaya, and Lola de los Reyes.
In the institutional section, the Vicente Aleixandre Institute will receive recognition, and the Business Trajectory Award will go to Pipas Sevillanas. The Niculoso Pisano Award will be given to ceramist Jesús Alcarazo; the Solidarity Award will go to Hogar Nazaret; and the Special Distinction for Artistic Trajectory will be awarded to Cantores de Híspalis for their 50 years of career.
The Velá will conclude with the traditional fireworks after the awards ceremony, marking the grand finale of a week of festivities in the city's most emblematic neighbourhood.
