Sevilla FC has practically decided that Oso will not continue in the squad next season. The expulsion of the homegrown player in the friendly against KS Krakow has only confirmed that his time in Nervión is coming to an end. The Andalusian club, which had considered a contract renewal with a salary increase, now believes that the best option for all parties is a transfer in this summer market.
The 23-year-old left-back was sent off in the 67th minute of the match against the Polish team for kicking the ball at an assistant after a controversial play. The action, described as "avoidable" by club sources, leaves a very negative impression at a crucial time for his future. Sevilla FC hopes to earn more than ten million euros from his transfer, an operation that would represent a full capital gain as he is a player developed in their academy.
The interest from Olympiacos cools
One of the clubs that had shown the most interest in Oso was Olympiacos, managed by José Luis Mendilibar and belonging to the group of Evangelos Marinakis. The possibility of moving to Greece and then jumping to the Premier League through Nottingham Forest, also owned by Marinakis, was attractive for the homegrown player. However, negotiations have cooled in recent hours, and an agreement seems increasingly complicated.
In Nervión, they remain hopeful of finalising the sale this summer. Time is against them, as starting from the next winter market, Oso could negotiate freely with any club if he does not renew. Therefore, the sporting management is working in parallel on other operations to strengthen the left-back position.
Julio Díaz close to reinforcing the left flank
With Oso's departure on track, Sevilla FC has practically finalised the signing of Julio Díaz, a left-back trained in the Atlético de Madrid academy. The player halted his move to Levante after receiving a call from the Seville club, and his signing could lead to the departure of Adrià Pedrosa, who returned this summer after his loan at Elche and would find it difficult to get minutes with Gabriel Suazo and Julio Díaz ahead of him.
In parallel, the club hopes to finalise the sale of Akor Adams to Venezia for 16.8 million euros plus variables in the coming days. The Nigerian forward did not travel to Poland with the rest of the squad, awaiting the finalisation of his transfer.
For Sevilla fans, Oso's departure represents a loss of homegrown talent but also an economic relief.
