The Virgen Macarena University Hospital has launched a campaign featuring SuperMac, its mascot, to promote healthy lifestyles among children. The latest video recommends drinking between one and two litres of water a day.

The Virgen Macarena University Hospital, part of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), has launched a communication campaign aimed at young children with a very special protagonist: SuperMac, the hospital's mascot. The initiative, driven by the hospital's Communication Unit, aims to instil healthy lifestyle habits in a fun and approachable way for the paediatric population.

The latest video in the series focuses on the importance of hydration. In it, SuperMac advises children to drink between one and two litres of water a day to prevent fatigue and improve concentration, as reported by the hospital in a press release. The campaign, which is disseminated through the hospital's digital channels, aims to reach families in the province of Seville and, especially, young patients in the Macarena's area of influence.

SuperMac, described by the hospital as the “first health superhero,” will not stop here. The hospital has announced that it will launch new videos in the future addressing other aspects of overall well-being, such as hygiene, dietary, physical, educational, social, and psychological habits. The goal is to cover all areas that affect health from an early age.

“If good dietary habits provide daily energy and prevent chronic diseases, hygienic habits protect the body from infections and improve self-esteem and social acceptance,” the hospital explains. Additionally, physical habits strengthen the cardiovascular system, improve mobility, and release endorphins, while psychological habits allow for the development of resilience, emotional management, and reduce daily anxiety.

The campaign also emphasizes educational habits, which “stimulate brain plasticity, improve empathy, and build critical thinking,” according to sources from the hospital. With this initiative, the Macarena Hospital aims for the benefits of these tips to not only impact the current well-being of public health users but also their future quality of life.

For parents and caregivers in the province of Seville, this campaign provides an additional tool to educate children about healthy habits in a playful way. The videos are available on the hospital's social media and website, and they are expected to be released regularly. The initiative is part of the health promotion work carried out by SAS centres, tailored to the language and interests of younger audiences.

In a context where childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles are growing problems, actions like this aim to prevent long-term diseases. The hospital reminds that good hydration is key for school performance and physical activity. With SuperMac as an ambassador, the message reaches children directly and in a fun way, allowing them to identify the character as a positive role model.

The campaign kicks off in the middle of summer, a time when hydration is especially important due to high temperatures. The Macarena Hospital encourages families to follow SuperMac's advice and share the videos to spread the message. The next video, with no set date yet, will address healthy eating, as the hospital has hinted.
