The Estepa Town Hall inaugurated the Interpretation Centre of the Sierra de Los Tajillos on Monday, an educational space with six thematic areas about the landscape, flora, and traditional trades of the area.

The Estepa Town Hall inaugurated the Interpretation Centre of the Sierra de Los Tajillos on Monday, a facility that brings together six thematic areas covering the formation of the terrain, the evolution of the landscape, the flora and fauna of the surroundings, and the traditional trades linked to the sierra.
The event was attended by the mayor, Antonio Jesús Muñoz, and the councillor for Tourism, Ascensión Castillo, along with a representation from the Municipal Corporation. Rocío Monsalves, responsible for the musealisation, also spoke, detailing the design of the exhibition proposal.
The setup combines scientific dissemination, sensory elements, and educational resources. The intention is for visitors to understand how this landscape has formed and changed, as well as the relationship that the residents of Estepa have maintained with it over generations.
“We want it to be a meeting place for the people of Estepa and also for those who visit us,” said Mayor Antonio Jesús Muñoz, who added that the centre will allow visitors to “discover our sierra, understand how it has formed, how our landscape has changed, and learn about the relationship that, for generations, we have maintained with this territory.”
During the inauguration, the educational use of the centre was emphasised, aimed at secondary school students, environmental groups, nature enthusiasts, and the general public. The idea is for new generations to engage with a natural space that is part of Estepa's heritage and to understand that conservation begins with knowledge.
The event also served to thank those who made the project possible. Remedios Sánchez Quirós and the Brotherhood of the Anguishes received recognition for their participation in the establishment of the facility.
With this resource, Estepa adds a new stop for residents and visitors interested in its landscape, history, and environmental wealth. The centre is now open in the town for those who wish to learn more about the sierra.
