The Estepa Town Hall has begun the implementation of a rainwater drainage system between Avenida de Andalucía and calle San Antonio Abad, aiming to reduce the risk of flooding in the western area of the municipality.
The Estepa Town Hall has launched a new initiative to prevent flooding: the execution of a rainwater drainage system that will run from Avenida de Andalucía to calle San Antonio Abad. The work will allow for the collection and channeling of rainwater from the entire western area of the municipality, as reported by the council.
This infrastructure aims to improve the evacuation capacity of the municipal hydraulic network and, thereby, reduce the risk of intense rainfall episodes that cause flooding. This is not the only intervention underway: the Town Hall is also constructing a new collector between Avenida de Andalucía and Avenida de los Cristos, which will facilitate the drainage of rainwater in that area of the city.
In addition to these works, the execution of the Storm Tank in the Polígono Corazón de Andalucía is underway, an infrastructure designed to retain excess water during heavy rainfall. The three interventions complete the improvements already made in the Polígono Industrial Sierra Sur, where rainwater drainage has been reinforced to prevent flooding.
These interventions are part of a municipal project to modernize Estepa's hydraulic infrastructure and address episodes of torrential rain, which have become more frequent in recent years. The works are being carried out in different phases and will affect several areas of the urban core and industrial estates, although the Town Hall has not detailed specific completion timelines for each of them.
During the works, residents of the affected streets may notice occasional traffic disruptions or the presence of machinery, so it is recommended to pay attention to the temporary signage. The council has indicated that these actions aim to better prepare Estepa for intense rainfall and minimize the damage that such events may cause to homes and businesses.
