The Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) will hold the III Summit of Energy Communities on September 30 in Seville, a national meeting that will bring together experts to analyse the progress of these initiatives.

The capital of Seville is preparing to host a key event in the field of energy transition. On September 30, the Marqués de Contadero Space will be the venue for the III Summit of Energy Communities, organised by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) with the support of the Andalusian Energy Agency.

Over 800 Initiatives Underway in Spain

The meeting comes at a crucial time for energy communities in Spain. According to UNEF data, there are already more than 800 initiatives operating across the country, and the recent publication of Royal Decree-Law 7/2026 has opened new regulatory and funding opportunities.

During the summit, discussions will focus on the current regulatory framework and its future development, project scaling, guarantees of benefits for the territory, the incorporation of storage, and various funding pathways.

“Energy communities are a key figure in advancing the transition, both for their technical value and their social impact,” UNEF representatives state.

Opportunities for Citizens, Industries, and Irrigators

The day will not only focus on benefits for individual citizens but also for industries, the agricultural sector, and irrigator communities. These entities can take advantage of self-consumption, energy storage, or electric mobility to reduce costs and improve their competitiveness.

In the province of Seville, where the agricultural sector plays a significant role, the summit offers an opportunity for farmers and businesses to learn how these figures can lower their energy bills. The Andalusian Energy Agency is participating as a collaborator, highlighting the regional interest in promoting these initiatives.

A European-Stamped Event

The summit is part of the European project REC4EU, which aims to promote energy communities throughout the European Union. This will allow for the sharing of experiences and best practices with other countries, which can benefit attendees from Seville looking to implement similar projects.

The event will take place from 09:00 to 18:00 and will feature top-level speakers. Registrations are already open through the UNEF website, and high participation is expected from representatives of municipalities, businesses, and citizens interested in ecological transition.
