Seville City Council Takes the Fighting Bull to the Streets with a Photographic Exhibition

Seville City Council and the Royal Union of Breeders of Fighting Bulls present an exhibition with 20 large-format photographs of the fighting bull.

Seville City Council and the Royal Union of Breeders of Fighting Bulls are promoting the exhibition 'Fighting Bull, Guardian of Biodiversity', featuring 20 large-format photographs that will be installed in a central and busy area of the city.

The city of Seville will host a photographic exhibition dedicated to the fighting bull and the dehesa. The Seville City Council, through the initiative “Seville, Bullfighting City”, and the Royal Union of Breeders of Fighting Bulls (RUCTL) have presented the travelling exhibition “Fighting Bull, Guardian of Biodiversity”, which aims to bring citizens closer to the reality of this species and its natural environment.

The exhibition features 20 large-format photographs by Arse & Azpi, Arjona, GCB Comunicación Digital, Isma Sánchez, and José Manuel Maza Martínez. The images depict the fighting bull in freedom and the landscapes, seasons, and species that make up the dehesa ecosystem.

The delegate for Major Festivals, Manuel Alés, explained that the goal is to take the fighting bull out of its usual spaces and place it in one of the busiest areas of Seville. “The fighting bull is part of our history, our culture, and our landscape, but it also has an environmental dimension that is important to make known,” Alés stated.

“From the City Council, we want to contribute to disseminating this reality and highlighting the work of the breeders, who for generations have contributed to the maintenance of these spaces and the biodiversity they host,” the delegate added.

Also present at the presentation were the president of the Royal Union of Breeders of Fighting Bulls, Antonio Bañuelos, and board members Fernando Sampedro and Rafael Iribarren.

This initiative is part of the City Council's commitment to strengthen Seville's connection with the world of bulls through the municipal brand “Seville Bullfighting City”, which values its historical, cultural, and economic dimensions, and in this case, also its relationship with the territory and the environment.

The exhibition, which is itinerant in nature, will be set up in a central and busy area of the capital of Seville. The City Council has not yet specified the exact dates for its opening to the public.
