The Town Hall of Lebrija will celebrate the institutional event for the awarding of the Gold Medal of the City to AJUDISLE this Thursday, 24 September, at 20:00 in the Juan Bernabé Municipal Theatre, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the entity.
The Juan Díaz de Solís Association (AJUDISLE) will receive the Gold Medal of the City of Lebrija this Thursday, 24 September. The institutional event will take place at 20:00 in the Juan Bernabé Municipal Theatre and will recognise the 50 years of the entity's work in favour of people with disabilities and their families.
The granting of the distinction was unanimously approved by the Plenary of the Municipal Corporation last June, as reported by the Town Hall of Lebrija. The recognition values AJUDISLE's contribution to the social and human development of the municipality, especially in the field of inclusion and equal opportunities.
Municipal representatives, members of the association, and a representation of the local associative fabric are invited to the event. The day will serve to review five decades of continuous work in supporting people with disabilities and their families in Lebrija.
The history of AJUDISLE began in 1976, when a group of mothers and fathers decided to organise themselves to defend the rights, integration, and well-being of their children. At that time, there were hardly any specific resources for disability care, so the creation of the entity was a community response to that lack of services.
“The distinction recognises their 50 years of work and their contribution to inclusion and the improvement of the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families,” states the Town Hall of Lebrija.
The event is open to participation from the local associative fabric, and attendance is expected from representatives of various groups in the municipality. The awarding of the Gold Medal of the City is part of the commemoration of AJUDISLE's 50th anniversary, which has developed various activities throughout this year to highlight its work.
