The Andalusian Greyhound Federation and the Town Hall of Lebrija are organising a day on Saturday, September 26, with training on the preparation and nutrition of competitive greyhounds and a tribute to owners of emblematic specimens from the municipality.
The event will begin at 8:00 AM at the Casa de la Juventud in Lebrija with the session “Preparation, Nutrition and Development in Competitive Greyhounds”, which will be led by Óscar Hernández Zarzuelo, a graduate in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.
During the morning, training and nutrition guidelines will be discussed, with practical examples involving the greyhounds Malú and Zaina, as well as a practical review and a specific section on feeding. The aim is to provide tools to owners and enthusiasts who prepare their animals for competition.
In the afternoon, starting at 12:30 PM, the Juan Bernabé Municipal Theatre will host a tribute to owners of emblematic greyhounds from Lebrija. The event will include a speech by the president of the Andalusian Greyhound Federation, Gabriel Santos León, the screening of videos, and recognition of the honorees.
The day will conclude with remarks from the mayor of Lebrija, Pepe Barroso, who has emphasised the significance of greyhound tradition in the municipality.
“Lebrija has an important tradition linked to the world of greyhounds, and it is a pleasure that the Andalusian Greyhound Federation has chosen our municipality to celebrate this day, which combines training, knowledge, and recognition of people connected to the local greyhound tradition,” Barroso stated.
The organisation is managed by the Andalusian Greyhound Federation in collaboration with the Town Hall of Lebrija. The event is on Saturday, September 26, and entry is free until capacity is reached, as confirmed by municipal sources.
This Tuesday, March 3, the mayor, the Sports delegate, María Encarnación Fuentes, and the advisor of the Municipal Sports Board, José María Benítez, received the owner of Zaina de Nebrixa, a specimen proclaimed Champion of Spain in the Campo Copa de S.M. El Rey 2026, an award that strengthens the municipality's bond with this discipline.
