Real Madrid has finalised the signing of Dean Huijsen for the next five seasons. The centre-back, raised in Marbella, was previously sought after by Sevilla FC, which continues to closely monitor his development.
The 2026 transfer market has seen a move that has not gone unnoticed in Nervión. Real Madrid announced on Saturday the signing of Dean Huijsen, the young Dutch-Spanish centre-back aged 23, from Bournemouth. The deal, finalised by Florentino Pérez, ties the player to the club for five seasons, and Sevilla FC, which has shown interest in the past, is attentively watching the outcome.
Huijsen, born in Amsterdam in 2003, grew up in Marbella from the age of five, where he developed at Costa Unida C.F. and in Málaga's youth academy. His playing style, based on ball distribution and defensive solidity, fits the profile Sevilla is looking for to strengthen their defence. Although Madrid has moved ahead, in the Andalusian capital they do not rule out a future move if the player does not get minutes.
Sevilla previously showed interest in Huijsen
Sources close to the Sevilla club have confirmed that sporting director Víctor Orta closely followed the centre-back during his time at Juventus and in the Premier League. Sevilla considered a loan during the winter market of 2025, but Bournemouth preferred to retain him. Now, with his transfer to Madrid, the option has become complicated, but the Sevilla club remains vigilant.
“Huijsen is a player with potential and knows Spanish football well. His adaptation would be immediate,” sources from Sevilla indicate. The centre-back, who feels more Spanish than Dutch, has expressed his affection for Andalusia on several occasions, which could facilitate a future return to the region.
A reinforcement for the Club World Cup and a potential rival in LaLiga
Real Madrid has secured Huijsen with a long-term contract and has registered him for the Club World Cup, which will take place in the summer. The centre-back will be available to Carlo Ancelotti from June 1, with the mission of being the generational replacement in the white defence. For Sevilla, this means that if the player fails to secure a spot in the starting eleven, he could seek an exit in the future.
The Sevilla fans, who have already seen other players raised in the province of Málaga succeed in Nervión, such as Jesús Navas, dream of a possible signing. However, the high cost of the transfer — Madrid paid around 40 million euros — makes it a complex operation for the club's finances.

Huijsen is accustomed to the pressure of big stages, and his time in Marbella, where the square metre approaches 5,135 euros, has given him a composed character. For now, Sevilla FC is focusing on its own market objectives but does not lose sight of a player who, despite wearing white, could end up defending the Sevilla badge in the not-too-distant future. Time will tell if the Huijsen saga has a chapter in Nervión.
