Sevilla FC faces the second test of their 2026-27 pre-season against a Primera División rival, although in this case it is a team from the elite: AD Ceuta, a team from the Primera Federación, will visit the Andalusian capital to face the Nervión side. The match will take place this Sunday, July 26 at 21:00 at Estadio Jesús Navas in the Ciudad Deportiva, behind closed doors, and will be broadcast live through the club's official platform.
The team led by Luis García Plaza arrives at this commitment having already played three friendlies. The Sevillians defeated Juventud Torremolinos (July 11), lost to Polish side KS Krakow, and most recently won on penalties against Córdoba in the Trofeo Puertas de Córdoba. The coach has been giving minutes to his players in these first weeks of preparation, aiming to shape the starting eleven ahead of the league start.
On the other hand, AD Ceuta has only played one friendly to date, in which they lost 1-0 to Juventud Torremolinos. Despite the result, the Ceuta coach, José Juan Romero, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance. "The result is the least important; the team showed character, knowing what they have and what they do from very early on, and that is very important," said Romero in a video released by the club. He described the first test as "one of the best first pre-season matches" he remembers in recent years, with "very positive" feelings.
Midfielder Cedric also reflected on the debut: "The feelings we had yesterday were good; we all felt very well together. We are also grasping the concepts from the coach; because even though I know them, the truth is that over the years we innovate and learn new things. But above all, the important thing is that we are picking it up quickly."
Sevilla FC, which has already signed three players this summer —Jon Guridi (Deportivo Alavés), Juan Iglesias (Getafe CF) and Arouna Sanganté (Le Havre)—, continues to shape its project. Luis García Plaza will use these friendlies to adjust the system and give minutes to the new signings. The last encounter between the two teams dates back three pre-seasons ago, when Sevilla won 5-2 against a Ceuta that was then in lower divisions. That match took place just after the Seville side won the UEFA Europa League.
