From Tuesday, July 21 to Saturday, July 25, five concerts will transform the historic gardens into a stage where jazz, flamenco, root music, and the connections between Spanish and French creation converge.
Pájaro Guitar Duo opens the week with Italian rock and swing
On Tuesday, July 21, the Pájaro Guitar Duo, formed by Andrés Herrera "El Pájaro" and Raúl Fernández, will perform. They present "Las Criaturas", a concert for two guitars and voice that brings together original compositions and covers of songs that have marked their journey. The programme traverses a sound universe where rock, surf, Italian swing, and root music converge, reinterpreted through a personal language forged over nearly three decades of collaboration.
The duo, which has collaborated with artists such as Pata Negra, Raimundo Amador, Silvio, or El Lebrijano, launched the project "Pájaro" in 2012, recognised for its musical personality and creative freedom. With two acoustic guitars and voice, they alternate moments of rhythmic intensity with others of greater intimacy.
Alicia Camiña fuses jazz and flamenco on Wednesday
On Wednesday, July 22, the saxophonist and composer from Seville Alicia Camiña will present "El jazmín de mi patio", a concert inspired by her latest album. Accompanied by pianist Julia Dueñas Barragán and drummer José Gómez, she offers a repertoire of original compositions where improvisation, creative freedom, and Andalusian tradition coexist naturally.
Trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Camiña develops her career between Spain and the United States. Her previous album, "Somewhere in My Dreams", was nominated for the Grammy Awards, consolidating a career open to the meeting of different musical languages.
Luis González Garrido and Orlando Bass explore Spanish-French links
On Thursday, July 23, saxophonist Luis González Garrido and pianist Orlando Bass will perform. They present "Génesis", a recital inspired by their first album that explores the musical links between Spain and France through works by Albéniz, Debussy, Poulenc, Falla, Fabien Waksman, and Fernande Decruck.
Formed in 2022, the duo has performed on stages and festivals in France and Italy, offering a contemporary perspective on a repertoire of great expressive richness where tradition, modernity, and cultural exchange coexist naturally.
Alxaraf recovers the legacy of al-Ándalus on Friday
On Friday, July 24, Alxaraf will perform, presenting "La cuerda de tres hilos", a concert that explores the musical legacy of the cultures that coexisted in al-Ándalus. Through traditional songs and original compositions, the trio establishes a dialogue between Sephardic tradition, Arab heritage, and flamenco, highlighting the links that for centuries united the music of the Mediterranean.
Comprising Vicente Gelo on vocals, Tino van der Sman on flamenco guitar, and David Chupete on percussion, Alxaraf was born in 2022 with the aim of recovering this heritage from a contemporary perspective. Following the release of their album "Éxodos", the group has developed a prominent international career, advocating for music as a meeting space between cultures.
Natalia Labourdette and José Antonio Domené close with French 'chanson'
On Saturday, July 25, soprano Natalia Labourdette and harpist José Antonio Domené will perform, presenting "Nuit d'étoiles", a recital dedicated to the dialogue between Spanish folk song and French "chanson". The programme includes works by Ravel, Falla, Fauré, Debussy, and Reynaldo Hahn, evoking the artistic atmosphere of Paris in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Since 2020, both performers have been developing a project dedicated to recovering works for this formation, presented at festivals across Spain. The presence of the harp adds a unique sound that enhances the nuances of the voice and offers a new perspective on this repertoire.
