The Cathedral Chapter has launched Catedral de Sevilla TV, a free audiovisual platform that broadcasts live masses, concerts and events, and offers a video library with downloadable sheet music.
The Cathedral of Seville has premiered its own digital television, named Catedral de Sevilla TV, an audiovisual platform that is now operational and accessible for free from the official website of the temple. The project, driven by the Cathedral Chapter, allows viewers to follow the main liturgical celebrations, concerts, and institutional events live, as well as consult a wide archive of videos produced in recent years.
A video library with over a decade of content
One of the pillars of the new channel is the enhancement of the audiovisual archive that the Cathedral has been generating. According to the delegate of Communication Media and spokesperson for the Chapter, Marcelino Manzano, "over the last few years, a significant archive of celebrations, concerts, events, and educational content has been generated that we now want to make more accessible."
The platform brings together a variety of pieces in a single organised space: from ordinations and pontifical masses to virtual guided tours of the roofs or the Giralda. All of this can be consulted at any time, classified by categories, with the option to receive notifications when a new broadcast begins.
Downloadable sheet music: a resource for choirs and parishes
One of the most unique features of Catedral de Sevilla TV is the ability to download sheet music for hymns and liturgical songs performed during the celebrations. According to Manzano, "a parish, a choir, or a community can listen to a hymn performed in the Cathedral and download its sheet music to take it to their own celebrations afterwards."
These resources are designed so that musicians, choirs, and the faithful can learn and perform the songs in their own communities. The initiative turns the channel into a free repository of materials for the service of liturgy and sacred music.
A digital window for those who cannot go to the temple
The Dean-President of the Chapter, Francisco José Ortiz Bernal, has highlighted that the platform responds to the desire to "keep the doors of the Cathedral open also in the digital realm." In his presentation, he emphasised that "the Cathedral is a universal heritage, but above all, it is a living church."
The channel will allow ill people, the elderly, or those with reduced mobility to follow the celebrations and participate spiritually from their homes, hospitals, or care homes. "We want to use these means with rigor, respect, and beauty to continue announcing the Gospel," the dean added.
The platform, with an interface in several languages, joins the Chapter's commitment to digitalisation without losing sight of its pastoral mission. As Ortiz Bernal recalled, "new technologies do not replace personal encounters, but they can accompany and bring the Cathedral's mission closer to more people."
