The Utrera City Council continues its efforts at the entrance to the city, with leveling work on medians and renovation of roundabouts on General Giráldez Avenue up to La Trianilla, where artificial grass and new lighting will be installed.
The improvement works on the access roads to Utrera are progressing with the renovation of the medians and roundabouts on General Giráldez Avenue, a stretch that connects the main entrance of the town with the La Trianilla area. The works, framed within the municipal plan for resurfacing and conditioning roads, include leveling the medians and placing artificial grass, as well as the installation of irrigation systems and new lighting in nine roundabouts.
From the Departments of Works and Infrastructure and Parks and Gardens, it has been explained that the tree pits of the palm trees planted in the medians will be left uncovered, clearing up any doubts about their possible covering. According to municipal sources, some tree pits were covered recently due to a misinterpretation by the executing company, which was removing the lattice-type cement bricks placed over twenty years ago. The correct action, they assure, is to leave the tree pits completely visible and cover the rest of the median with artificial grass.
Regarding the roundabouts, a total of nine will be worked on, all located in the stretch from the entrance of Utrera to the Bambino roundabout in La Trianilla. Each will feature a new irrigation system that will facilitate the maintenance of the landscaping, as well as renewed lighting that, in addition to improving visibility for drivers, will have an ornamental character to highlight the decorative elements of each roundabout.
These works are part of a broader plan to improve road infrastructures in Utrera, which includes resurfacing several streets and repairing sidewalks. The aim is to modernize access to the town and improve road safety, as well as the aesthetics of the main roads. Local residents have expressed their satisfaction with the works, although some have voiced concerns about the preservation of the palm trees, a matter that the City Council has sought to clarify by ensuring that the trees will not be affected.
The works, which began a few weeks ago, are expected to conclude in the coming months, depending on weather conditions. The City Council has indicated that necessary traffic disruptions will be communicated to minimize inconvenience to drivers. Once completed, the entrance to Utrera via General Giráldez Avenue will present a more cared-for and functional appearance, with landscaped medians and illuminated roundabouts, contributing to an improved image of the locality.
