The Town Hall of Los Palacios and Villafranca has put out to tender the construction of a new 1,200 millimetre diameter collector in the area of Calle Bucarest, next to IES Diego Llorente, with an investment of €445,000. Interested companies can submit offers until 5 October.
The mayor of Los Palacios and Villafranca, Juan Manuel Valle, along with the municipal delegate for Urbanism, José Manuel Triguero, has visited the municipal equipment area located next to Calle Bucarest and IES Diego Llorente, where an action will be carried out to improve the drainage of rainwater. The project is promoted by the public company Aguas del Huesna and has a budget of €445,000.
The tender file is already published on the contracting platform, so interested companies can submit their offers until 5 October. The expected timeframe for the execution of the works is three months, meaning that once awarded and the preliminary procedures are completed, the work can begin quickly.
According to the mayor, the problems of water accumulation are concentrated mainly around the Rotonda de la Flamenca, Avenida Miguel Ángel, and the ends of San Isidro, Buenavista, and Picasso streets, where several pipes currently do not have sufficient capacity to handle certain episodes of rain.
The solution proposed by the technical services after several months of study involves a new collector of 1,200 millimetres in diameter, which will channel the water towards the area of the Rotonda de la Feria and connect it with the large collector for the diversion of streams, measuring 2,000 millimetres.
“There are still some strategic points where it is necessary to continue acting, and this is one of them,” said Juan Manuel Valle.
The Town Hall has been making investments and specific actions to reduce problems arising from rainwater accumulation, and this infrastructure aims to complement those cleaning and improvement efforts. The mayor has thanked Aguas del Huesna for their willingness to undertake the work.
Alongside this hydraulic action, the mayor has announced another intervention in the municipal plot of the area. In a space of approximately 2,000 square metres, the Town Hall plans a deterrent car park of about 70 spaces, which will be developed with European funds.
“We want to continue responding to the needs of an area that is growing and will continue to incorporate new services and facilities,” the mayor pointed out.
Valle explained that this new parking facility will help alleviate congestion in the area due to the residential, commercial, and sports growth, especially considering the upcoming completion of the indoor swimming pool. He recalled that this strategy of creating parking areas has already been applied in another municipal plot next to Calle Maestra Lucía.
