The Dos Hermanas City Council has initiated the Annual Resurfacing Plan 2026, which will affect 47 streets throughout the municipality, including Montequinto.
The Dos Hermanas City Council has launched the Annual Resurfacing Plan 2026, an intervention that will extend across the entire municipal area and includes the renewal of the surface on 47 roads. The work, which has just begun, will be carried out in phases over the coming months.
The plan is structured into two distinct lots. The first encompasses a set of streets spread between the main hub of Dos Hermanas and the neighbourhood of Montequinto. The second lot specifically focuses on Avenida 4 de Diciembre, one of the busiest traffic arteries in the municipality.
In addition to laying new asphalt, the work includes mechanical milling of the existing pavement, raising and modifying the level of the access points, replacing drainage grates and non-standard manhole covers, demolishing cobblestone pavement, installing drainage curbs, and regularising with bituminous mix. Road markings will also be renewed once the resurfacing is completed.
Among the streets included in the first lot are Juan Díaz de Solís, Atahualpa, Moctezuma, Condes de Ybarra (in both sections), Vía Apia, Viena, Avenida Europa, Santiago Apóstol, Avenida de Andalucía, Virgen del Pilar, Virgen de Montserrat, Alfred Nobel, La Viña, Vijaldón, Cañada León, Tesorillo, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Jovellanos, Luis de Góngora, Juan de la Cruz, Marqués de Santillana, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Gabriel Celaya, Ramón del Valle-Inclán, Jaime Gil de Biedma, Avenida de Jerez, Torre de Doña María, Pablo VI, Juan XXIII, Calderón de la Barca, San José, Aragón, Atlántida, La Lagunilla, Ordesa, Alcalde José María Gómez Claro, Periodista José María Gómez, Montelirio, Maestre de los Molinos, Las Botijas, El Arsenal, Pío Baroja, Avenida Cristóbal Colón and the section of Avenida de España with the roundabouts of Cantabria and La Rioja.
Avenida 4 de Diciembre, the focus of the second lot, is one of the main arteries of Dos Hermanas, so its resurfacing will be addressed independently to minimise traffic disruptions. The City Council has not yet specified the exact schedule for each intervention or the traffic closures that may arise.
The plan, funded with municipal funds, aims to improve road safety and the comfort of drivers and pedestrians. The works will be announced by areas so that residents are informed in advance about the impacts on their streets.
The Council reminds that, during the works, necessary detours will be established and it is recommended to avoid the construction areas whenever possible. The forecast is that all actions will be completed throughout this year.
