Dos Hermanas Celebrates Bird Day at the Fuente del Rey Lagoon

The Dos Hermanas City Council and SEO/BirdLife are organising a free event on Saturday, October 3rd, with workshops, an information table, and two guided birdwatching walks at the Fuente del Rey Lagoon.

The Fuente del Rey Lagoon will host an open day on Saturday, October 3rd to commemorate World Bird Day. The activity, organised by the Dos Hermanas City Council and the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO/BirdLife) through its local group SEO-Sevilla, aims to bring residents closer to the knowledge of avifauna and highlight the natural wealth of this site.

The programme will take place in the morning at the lagoon's facilities. Between 10:00 and 13:00, there will be an information table and several family workshops designed for all audiences and free of charge.

Additionally, two guided birdwatching walks are planned, departing at 10:00 and 11:30. These routes will allow participants to explore the surroundings and learn about the species that inhabit the area. Participation is also free but requires prior registration as places are limited.

Interested individuals must fill out the form available at https://tinyurl.com/LagunaAves26. Once the application is received, SEO/BirdLife will contact the registrants to confirm their attendance and provide the necessary information for the activity.

The Fuente del Rey Lagoon is one of the main environmental assets of Dos Hermanas. In this space, more than 100 species of birds can be observed throughout the year, making it a privileged location for observation in an urban environment.

The event is part of the collaboration agreement between the Dos Hermanas City Council and SEO/BirdLife to promote the conservation, study, and dissemination of biodiversity in the municipality, as well as to raise awareness and educate the public about environmental issues.

Bird Day also serves to remind us of the role of birds as indicators of the health of ecosystems. Their presence and evolution provide relevant information about the environmental conditions of the spaces they inhabit.

Thus, the City Council maintains the Fuente del Rey Lagoon as a reference space for environmental education in Dos Hermanas. To participate in the walks, it is essential to register in advance using the indicated form; the other activities do not require prior appointment.
