The Alcalá de Guadaíra Town Hall will build a new summer pool in the Cabeza Hermosa area, featuring two pools, changing rooms, a bar, and green spaces. Construction will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and last for eight months.
The mayor of Alcalá de Guadaíra, Ana Isabel Jiménez, announced on Friday the construction of the city's second public summer pool, which will be located on a municipal plot in the Cabeza Hermosa area. The project is already in the bidding phase for the works, which will start in the fourth quarter of 2026 with an execution period of eight months, meaning the facility could be operational by the summer of 2027.
Jiménez was accompanied during the visit to the site by the delegate for Strategic Planning, Jesús Mora, and the delegate for Sports, Pedro Gracia. The mayor explained that the new pool responds to the city's growth and the high demand on the current San Juan pool.
"Alcalá will have a second public summer pool to provide an alternative for leisure and sports to our citizens. It will be here in Cabeza Hermosa, next to a tram stop, and we have already approved the contracting file for the works"
The municipal plot has an approximate area of 6,750 square meters and a maximum height difference of six meters between its northern and southern ends. It is bordered by the streets Voluntad, Justicia, and Ronda de Cabeza Hermosa, and has all urban services: sewage, drinking water, and electricity.
The expected capacity is 300 users. The facility will feature two recreational pools: one for adults measuring 750 square meters (45.50 x 16.50 meters) and another for children measuring 132 square meters (16.50 x 8.00 meters). Both will be located on the southern side of the plot.
On the northern perimeter, two buildings will be constructed: one for changing rooms, toilets, an office, a first aid room, and storage, covering one floor and approximately 350 square meters; and another for a bar with a porch-terrace. Between these areas, there will be a green space of nearly 3,000 square meters with grass and vegetation. The project will also include a perimeter fence and service connections.
The mayor highlighted the good location of the facility, in a commercial environment and well-connected both by private vehicle and tram, as access leads to a promenade that ends at the Los Alcores shopping centre.
"We are aware that this is a highly demanded project by the residents of Alcalá, given the growth the city is experiencing, and the demand for the current San Juan pool"
The design of the complex includes large roofs for shading and a low, solid building. The pool will thus add to the summer offerings of the locality, which until now only had the San Juan facility.
