The 46th Flamenco Festival Joaquín el de la Paula returns to the Castle of Alcalá de Guadaíra 16 years later, with a lineup headed by the local dancer Javier Barón, who is being honoured. Tickets cost 12 euros.
The Castle of Alcalá de Guadaíra will once again host the Flamenco Festival Joaquín el de la Paula, returning to this venue after 16 years. The event, now in its 46th edition, will once again position the town as a meeting point for Andalusian flamenco.
The lineup is led by the local dancer Javier Barón, the protagonist of this year's tribute. Alongside him will perform the singer David Palomar, Lela Soto, and Ezequiel Benítez, while the guitarists will include Rubén Martínez, Paco León, and Rubén Lara.
The delegate for the Area of Identity and head of the Culture, Heritage, and Tourism departments, Christopher Rivas, has highlighted the honoree dancer's career and his connection to the festival.
"The Festival features a lineup of great figures, and this year we pay tribute to the local dancer Javier Barón, who returns to this emblematic Festival in his homeland"
Rivas added that Barón is "an essential figure in contemporary flamenco dance" and justified the recognition due to his contributions to the art of flamenco over the years.
"Recognising Javier Barón is also recognising the value of those who have dedicated their lives to enhancing this art through effort, talent, and authenticity"
The municipal official noted that with this programming, the City Council aims to ensure that Alcalá de Guadaíra remains a place where flamenco "is lived, felt, and shared," emphasising that tradition is part of the city's identity and history.
Tickets for the festival are already on sale through the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council's ticketing website, at a flat price of 12 euros. The return of the festival to the Castle means reclaiming a stage that has not hosted this flamenco event for 16 years.
