The Hospital of Lebrija will host a new blood donation campaign from this Monday, September 14, until Friday, September 18, in the afternoon, with a morning session on Tuesday 15. The organisation requests participation from all blood groups.
The Volunteer Civil Protection Group is collaborating in the organisation of the campaign, which will take place at the Hospital of Lebrija. The usual hours will be from 17:00 to 21:00 hours, although on Tuesday, September 15, it will also be open in the morning, from 10:00 to 13:30 hours.
The organisation emphasises the need for blood from all blood groups to maintain hospital reserves. Donating is a simple gesture that helps care for those who require transfusions.
To donate, it is essential to be of legal age, weigh more than 50 kilos, and be in good health. Additionally, it is recommended not to attend on an empty stomach.
Blood is an essential medicine that cannot be manufactured, making donations crucial. The extraction process takes approximately 15 minutes and can help save lives.
Between donations, a minimum interval of two months must be observed. Men can donate up to four times a year and women up to three times a year.
Before the extraction, a doctor will conduct a preliminary examination and a small blood test to ensure, among other things, that there is no anaemia and that the donation can be safely made. All materials used are sterile and for single use.
After the donation, food and drinks will be offered to donors to aid their recovery.
