The Alzheimer’s Association of Lebrija is organising workshops, early detection tests, and a conference from September 21 to 25, with the XII March as a closing event. The Town Hall is collaborating on the World Day programming.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Lebrija has finalised a five-day programme to commemorate World Alzheimer’s Day, which is celebrated every September 21. The activities will extend until Friday 25 and have the collaboration of the Town Hall of Lebrija.
The kick-off will be on Monday, September 21 with the raising of the commemorative flag at the Pedro Bacán roundabout. At 11:00 hours, the manifesto will be read at the doors of the Town Hall of Lebrija.
The following day, Tuesday 22, the Casa de la Cultura will host the workshop “Healthy Back and Meditation” at 11:00 hours, aimed at caregivers. To attend, prior registration is required by calling 955 973 346. On the same day, starting at 18:00 hours, the Day Centre, next to the San Francisco car park, will open its doors to the public.
Wednesday 23 will be dedicated to early detection tests at the Day Centre. Interested individuals must make an appointment in advance at the same phone number, 955 973 346.
Research will be the focus on Thursday 24. At 11:00 hours, the Casa de la Cultura will host the conference “Advances in Alzheimer’s Disease Research”, delivered by José Luis Cantero, professor of Physiology and director of the Functional Neuroscience Laboratory at Pablo de Olavide University.
On Friday 25, early detection tests will again be conducted at the Day Centre, always by appointment. In the evening, at 20:00 hours, the XII Alzheimer’s March will depart from the Plaza de España, bringing the week to a close.
The march is a solidarity event that each year brings together families, groups, and residents of Lebrija to raise awareness of the disease and show support for those affected and their families.
“The Town Hall of Lebrija encourages citizens to participate in the various scheduled activities and to join the Alzheimer’s Association in this week of awareness, sensitisation, and support,” the Council has conveyed.
Those wishing to participate in the workshops or early detection tests must reserve a spot by calling 955 973 346. The march, however, does not require registration and will start at 20:00 hours on Friday 25 from the Plaza de España.
