The Town Hall of Lebrija is organising guided tours on September 29, 30, and October 1 that will explore the ancient walled circuit and conclude with a tasting of wines from three local wineries overlooking the Marisma and the Campiña.
The Town Hall of Lebrija presented this Friday the cultural route 'Between Maenads and Bacchants', an activity with which the municipality joins the celebration of World Tourism Day. The proposal combines historical heritage, landscape, and wine culture in a guided tour that will take place on September 29, 30, and October 1.
The delegate for Culture, Heritage, and Tourism, Pepe Martínez, explained at a press conference that the initiative will allow participants to learn about some of the most significant elements of the city's ancient walled circuit and its relationship with the territory and the ancient Ligustine lake.
The itinerary will start from the Tourist Office and continue to the ancient Seville Gate. It will then move to the Santiago Gate to enter the walled city of the 16th century. The route will also include a visit to the Nebrija Centre and will conclude at the esplanade of the Castle.
It will be at this last location where the experience will reach one of its highlights: watching the sunset over the landscape of the Marisma and the Campiña, accompanied by a tasting of wines from three Lebrijan wineries: Andrés Ahumada, Halcón, and González Palacios.
"We want culture to be known, but also to be walked, contemplated, listened to, and savoured," stated Martínez.
The activity costs 3 euros per person and tickets can be purchased at the House of Culture. With this proposal, the Town Hall aims to offer a different perspective on local heritage and connect it with one of Lebrija's most deeply rooted traditions, wine culture.
Those interested in participating can register at the House of Culture until the capacity for each of the scheduled visits is filled.
