The Municipal Theatre Juan Bernabé in Lebrija has unveiled its autumn season, which will run from September 25 to December 9 with around twenty performances of music, theatre, dance, and circus. The programme, under the slogan “Theatre. All the verbs you can imagine”, offers a journey through the scenic vocabulary with proposals that evoke emotions, question, transform, and awaken the imagination.
The prologue of the season was already held on September 19 at the Casa de la Cultura with Haced con mi piel un tambor, a scenic device with Lebrijan resonances that captivated the audience.
During the presentation, the Culture Delegate, Pepe Martínez, highlighted that “it is precisely in the ability to conjugate each performance in our own way that enriches the scenic experience, making it different in the eyes of each spectator.” He also noted that “we understand cultural programming as a tool to broaden horizons and to ensure that anyone can find a proposal in our theatre that interests them.” He added: “I hope that, once again, the audience will trust the carefully selected programme we offer.”
The delegate called on those who have yet to discover the theatre: “trust that this autumn, there is a seat for you, a story that may be waiting for you.” This invitation was especially extended to families: “bring your children to the theatre, because perhaps in a few years, some of those children sitting in their seats will become actors, dancers, or stage technicians. Or, simply, as adults, they will remember those autumn afternoons when they discovered a new way of feeling at Juan Bernabé.”
For his part, Francisco Vidal, director of the Culture area, used the season's lexicon to assert that “our favourite verb is Participate.” Vidal reminded that the Casa de la Cultura “has its doors open for purchasing theatre tickets” and noted that the Friend Card 2026 remains operational: “being a friend of the theatre comes with significant discounts on ticket prices, given our commitment to facilitating access to culture for all citizens.”
The presentation featured the presence of artist Lucía Castells, a member of the emerging dance company LasLu Cía.
The programme will kick off this Friday, September 25 at 21:00 hours with the concert by Quentin Gas & Los Zíngaros, who are concluding their tour “El mundo se quema”, an album recognised with the MundoSonoro 2024 award. Quintín Vargas, son of flamenco dancer Concha Vargas, already warned last week that “you shouldn’t miss the concert, because there will be surprises.”
On October 2, Poeta [perdido] en Nueva York by El Aedo will arrive, an intimate approach to Federico García Lorca through his poems and letters written during his stay in New York. Poetry, music, and image combine to explore the lights and shadows of the city and turn the external journey into an internal one.
On October 10, Dysphoria by Histrión Teatro presents an intense family conflict around gender identity through documentary fiction. The story of a mother facing her own prejudices serves to address the legal voids and suffering surrounding these realities.
On October 17, El rey de la farándula proposes a journey between history and the present to recover the splendour of the Golden Age through humour, music, and cabaret. Texts by Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca, and Quevedo interact with songs by Monteverdi, José Marín, and Juan Hidalgo in a proposal that delves into the court of Felipe IV.
On October 23, Alboroto will turn the stage into a meeting ground for circus, flamenco, music, and humour. Acrobatics, juggling, dance, and live music intertwine in a proposal for all audiences. This performance is scheduled as part of Cirktober, the circus festival of the province of Seville led by the Provincial Council.
On October 30, Mamut will transport the audience to an imaginary Paleolithic to discuss creativity, imagination, and cooperation. Through humour, poetry, and a powerful visual language, the play presents collaboration as one of the keys to human evolution.
The Niñas de Cádiz will present La reina brava on November 7, a tragedy with Shakespearean echoes that combines drama and satire, verse, Andalusian tradition, and humour to address ambition, revenge, and power.
The season will continue with more proposals until December 9. Tickets can be purchased at the Casa de la Cultura, and holders of the Friend Card 2026 will enjoy discounts.
