The Town Hall of Lebrija has been awarded the Medal for Social Penitentiary Merit for the collaboration of the Local Police with the penitentiary centres in Seville. The mayor, José Benito Barroso, received the award at a ceremony held this Friday.
The Local Police of Lebrija has had its work recognised with the Medal for Social Penitentiary Merit, an award given to the Town Hall of Lebrija for its commitment and cooperation with the penitentiary sector. The presentation took place this Friday, September 25, as part of the events organised by the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Mercy, patron saint of Penitentiary Institutions.
The event, held alongside the management of the Seville Penitentiary Centres, the Sevilla II Social Insertion Centre, and the Penitentiary Psychiatric Hospital, was attended by the mayor, José Benito Barroso; the delegate for Citizen Security, Teresa Serrano; and the acting chief of the Local Police, Francisco Luis Vidal, representing the Lebrija Town Hall.
The medal highlights the collaboration that the Local Police of Lebrija maintains with the penitentiary services and centres, as well as the work it carries out in terms of security and institutional cooperation within its competencies. This distinction is awarded by the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions to entities and individuals who stand out for their contribution to reintegration and the functioning of the penitentiary system.

The mayor of Lebrija, José Benito Barroso, congratulated all members of the Local Police for this recognition and thanked the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions for awarding the distinction. Barroso emphasised the importance of the daily work that the officers perform in service of the citizens of Lebrija.
With this medal, the municipality sees its efforts recognised, which transcend the local scope and extend to coordination with the penitentiary centres in the province of Seville. The distinction adds to the ordinary work of the Local Police of Lebrija in terms of citizen security.
