The elderly of Tomares have been the stars of the Fair's midday with their traditional lunch at the Municipal Pavilion, accompanied by Mayor José María Soriano and the performance of local artist Ely Silva.
The Tomares Fair experienced one of its most emotional moments on Saturday, September 5: the traditional lunch for the town's elderly, held at noon in the Municipal Pavilion. The gathering was attended by Tomares' mayor, José María Soriano, and several members of his government team, who shared a table with the older residents.
The after-lunch entertainment was provided by the voice of Ely Silva, a local artist and former contestant on the television programme Se llama Copla: El Desafío, who thrilled the attendees with her performance on the pavilion's stage.
The mayor expressed his affection for this event:
“On Saturday, we have an appointment that I always look forward to with great anticipation: lunch with our elderly at the Municipal Pavilion. These are simple moments, but for me, they hold great value.”
The festive day does not end here. That very night, at 23:30 hours, the Fairgrounds will host the performance of David Civera, known for songs like “Que la detengan” and for his participation in Eurovision 2001 with “Dile que la quiero”, a song that reached sixth place. Before that, at 22:00 hours, the Seville-based flamenco fusion group Agustele will take the stage.
The night will be closed out at 1:30 hours by the Seville rock band Peterpunk & The Diablo Band, led by Pedro Ortiz. The group, which composed the support song for the Spanish Basketball Team during their pre-Olympic tour in 2016, will provide the final touch to Saturday’s events.
The Tomares Fair, which runs from September 2 to 6, continues this Sunday the 6th with the Children's Gala at 13:00 hours and free pizza for children at 14:00 hours. Residents who wish to stay updated on the entire programme can follow the social media of the Tomares Town Hall.
