The second day of Egypt's Cultural Week in Gines combined readings of poems by Salah Abdel Sabour with a demonstration of Egyptian cuisine and a tasting of Coshari at the Active Participation Centre.
The second day of the Cultural Week of Egypt in Gines took place at the Active Participation Centre of the municipality, focusing on literature and cuisine. The event, organised by the Cultural Delegation of the Gines Town Hall along with the Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies in Madrid, brought attendees closer to the culture of the North African country.
Almudena García, secretary of the Egyptian Institute, was responsible for reading a selection of poems by the Egyptian writer Salah Abdel Sabour. With this reading, those present were able to experience one of the most prominent artistic expressions of Arab culture first-hand.
After the poetry, the day continued with an explanation of the fundamentals of Egyptian cuisine. Attendees learned how to prepare Coshari, one of the most popular dishes in the country, and were able to taste it right there.
