Hacienda Santa Cruz in La Rinconada has hosted the 'Expone Innovation Laboratory', a professional day organised by AMMA and the Town Hall. During the meeting, the nominations for the Special Public Award of the Expone Awards were presented, which will be awarded on October 2 at Caixaforum Sevilla.
Museum professionals, heritage experts, museography specialists, cultural managers, and communication experts gathered at the Hacienda Santa Cruz in La Rinconada to participate in the 'Expone Innovation Laboratory: Best Practices, Communication and Professional Recognition in Museums and Exhibitions', an initiative by the Andalusian Association of Museology and Museography (AMMA) with the support of the Town Hall of La Rinconada.
The day served as a meeting and debate space for workers and institutions in the sector. The Town Hall's Culture Delegate, Raquel Vega, and the president of AMMA, Sol Martín, welcomed attendees to the event.
"We continue to build strategic alliances to advance firmly in our candidacy before UNESCO as a Creative City. The agreement we promote with the Andalusian Association of Museology and Museography (AMMA) allows us to strengthen the defence of Andalusian Heritage and promote cultural innovation laboratories that place La Rinconada at the centre of debate, best practices, and excellence in cultural management," highlighted Vega.
Following the welcome, a round table titled 'How to Build an Excellent Cultural Candidacy' took place, analysing the processes behind a cultural initiative and the keys to its success. Participants included Ale Rojas and Rosa Nogueras Ferris from the Sevilla LAB platform; Maribel Rodríguez Achútegui, project director at Espiral Patrimonio and director of the Museum of La Rinconada; and Marta del Corral, cultural manager and director of Marta del Corral Estudio. The moderator was Santiago Campuzano from the Andalusian Centre of Photography in Almería.
The morning concluded with the presentation of the finalist nominations for the Special Public Award of the 6th edition of the Expone Awards, which recognise the most outstanding museographic and exhibition projects at the state and regional level since 2021. The awards ceremony will be held on October 2 at Caixaforum Sevilla.
The awards feature four categories: best national exhibition, best Andalusian exhibition, professional career award, and special public award. The finalists in this last category are 'The Posters of the Transition' from the Museum of Terque (Almería); 'The School That Made a City' from the San Telmo School of Art and Design in Málaga; 'Guerrilla Museography', promoted by Belleda López; 'Did Curro Dream of Electric Birds? Fabulating the Fabulated Vol. 01' from Lab Sevilla; and 'Does Africa Ring a Bell?' from the Culture and Cooperation Association with Africa 'El Gulmu'.
AMMA, an entity with nearly 20 years of experience, aims to recognise the professionals of museums and exhibitions through these activities. In the previous five editions of the Expone Awards, the organisation has received over 300 nominations, reflecting the quality of the exhibition and mediation projects promoted from Andalusia and nationally.
The 6th edition of the EXPONE Awards is supported by Apuntes de Arte, the Spanish Association of Museologists (AEM), European Young Museologists Link (EYML), the International Federation of Human Rights Museums (FIHRM), the La Caixa Foundation, and the Network of Museums and Digital Strategies (REMED).
