Guillena Town Hall has signed this week the contract with JICA ANDALUZA for Works and Services. The works are set to begin in September and will last 18 months.
Guillena Town Hall has taken a definitive step towards the construction of its new Municipal Theatre. This week, the contract for the works was formalised with the company JICA ANDALUZA for Works and Services, awarded the project following the corresponding bidding process. The event was attended by the mayor, Lorenzo Medina, the councillor for Culture, and a representative from the company.
The planned investment amounts to €3,875,827.51. The works are expected to commence next September and will have an execution period of 18 months, meaning the infrastructure could be ready by 2028.
The project has crucial financial backing from the Provincial Council of Seville. The provincial institution has granted Guillena Town Hall a subsidy of €3 million, covering just over 75% of the bidding cost. This aid is part of the call from the Territorial Cohesion Area of the Provincial Council, aimed at the construction and renovation of municipal facilities.
The new theatre will be built on a plot on Avenida de Las Pajanosas, at the beginning of what is known as 'Kilometre 1', in the Los Molinillos area. The chosen location aims to contribute to the development and transformation of this part of the municipality.
Mayor Lorenzo Medina has highlighted that the new cultural space will be "an open door to new cultural and scenic proposals," and responds to the goal of providing Guillena with a modern and suitable infrastructure.
The formalisation of the contract represents a new advance in a project that began last year. In April 2026, the deadline for submitting offers was opened, once the Town Hall had the final execution project. With the signing, the municipality is closer to seeing a long-awaited facility for local culture become a reality.
