Podemos Sevilla will install a Violet Point and an LGTBIQ+ shelter at its booth during the Velá de Santiago and Santa Ana in Triana, from July 21 to 26. The space, called 'Safe Space', will provide assistance to victims of gender violence and discrimination.
This year's Velá de Triana will feature a space dedicated to the safety and support of individuals suffering from gender violence or LGTBIfobia. Podemos Sevilla has announced that it will set up a Violet Point and an LGTBIQ+ shelter at its booth, located at number 26 on Betis Street, during the festival, which will take place from July 21 to 26.
A Safe Space in the Heart of Velá
The booth, managed by Podemos Sevilla and the Centro Social Casco Antiguo Association, will be named 'Safe Space'. There, volunteers will be available to provide support and immediate assistance to women suffering from gender violence, as well as to individuals who are victims of homophobic, transphobic, or any form of discrimination during the festival. The Violet Point will operate throughout the booth's opening hours, as the party has informed in a statement.
Agenda of Meetings with Social Movements
This year's initiative is expanded with an agenda of meetings that will bring together social movements from the city. Among the participating entities are the Trans Association of Andalusia (ATA- Sylvia Rivera) and the Citizen Platform Save the Guadalquivir. Neighbourhood associations that work year-round on improving neighbourhoods, dignified housing, and public services will also attend.
