The academy graduate Juanlu Sánchez suffers a muscle injury in his left quadriceps that will prevent him from training for several days, according to Sevilla FC's medical report. The defender joins Marcão and Alfon in the white and red infirmary.

Sevilla FC confirmed on Wednesday the injury of Juanlu Sánchez, who suffered a muscular setback during the training session at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios. The official medical report reveals that the academy player has a muscle injury in his left quadriceps, which will keep him sidelined for several days and raises doubts about his participation in the upcoming pre-season friendly.

The defender joins the list of injured players that already includes Marcão and Alfon, both also with physical issues. Coach Luis García Plaza thus loses a key player in the defensive area, just as the team prepares for the start of the league season 2026/27.

Transfer Market: Akor Adams close to Venezia

As the injury list grows, Sevilla FC's sporting management is accelerating player departures in the transfer market. Nigerian forward Akor Adams has been training normally but is expected to travel to Italy imminently to sign with Venezia. The transfer, which could be finalised in the coming hours, would relieve the club's wage bill.

Meanwhile, right wing-back Oso continues to train with the group while offers from Fiorentina and Nottingham Forest are being resolved. The club maintains a firm stance and will only accept an offer that matches his release clause.

Exclusions: Jordán, Gattoni, Cardoso and Rafa Mir out of the dynamics

The sporting planning for the 2026/27 campaign requires lightening the squad. Joan Jordán, Federico Gattoni, and Fabio Cardoso continue to train away from the first team, while Rafa Mir has not even appeared at the training ground as he awaits to resolve his future. The club is looking to offload these players to free up spots and incorporate new reinforcements.

The Sevilla fans, always attentive to every move, hope that physical problems do not hinder the start of the season. With Juanlu Sánchez sidelined, Luis García Plaza will need to reshape the defence for the upcoming friendly matches.
