The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation relaunches its Industrial School with a course in Metallurgical Installations Operations. There will be 20 free places for unemployed individuals from Gerena, Guillena, Salteras, and La Algaba, with 300 theoretical hours and 200 practical hours.
The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation opened registration on Monday for the new edition of its Industrial School, a job training programme that this time focuses on the Metallurgical Installations Operations course. The initiative is organised in conjunction with the Business School of the Seville Chamber of Commerce.
The course offers 20 free places reserved for unemployed individuals registered in Gerena, Guillena, Salteras, and La Algaba, the four municipalities closest to the mining-metallurgical complex that the company has in Gerena. Classes will start on October 19.
The curriculum combines 300 hours of theoretical training and 200 hours of practical experience in companies within the industrial sector. Topics include boiler mechanics and welding, electromechanics, engine maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, drilling, cutting and blasting, occupational risk prevention, and environmental management.
The selection of participants will take into account the training and skills of the candidates. Although the programme prioritises unemployed individuals, a portion of the places is reserved for active workers wishing to improve their job situation. The foundation is also working to increase the presence of women in the mining-industrial sector.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Industrial School has conducted seven editions of specialised courses, with an average job placement rate of 65%. In total, it has accumulated nearly 1,900 training hours and over 1,500 practical hours, benefiting more than 140 individuals from the surrounding area.
The Cobre Las Cruces Foundation, established in 2010, has invested over 10 million euros in socio-economic, educational, cultural, and environmental development projects in the area.
Interested individuals can register until September 30 via email at formacionindustrial@camaradesevilla.com or on the website of the Business School of the Seville Chamber of Commerce. To participate in the selection process, candidates must present their ID, a certificate of residence in one of the four municipalities, proof of unemployment status, and a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Higher Vocational Training or High School Diploma.
