The 38th edition of the Nocturna del Guadalquivir KH7 will bring together 26,000 runners this Friday, 25th September, starting at 22:00. The event, which sold out the initial 25,000 bibs and added another 1,000, is the most important night race in Europe.
The Nocturna del Guadalquivir KH7 celebrates its 38th edition this Friday with a record participation: 26,000 runners will start at 22:00 from the Paseo de las Delicias, at the height of the Glorieta de Buenos Aires. The organisation sold out the 25,000 bibs twenty days before the event and added 1,000 additional registrations that sold out in just a few hours.
The Sports Delegate, María Tena, highlighted that the event "has become the most important in Europe." In statements to the media, Tena emphasised the "participatory, festive, supportive and inclusive" nature of the event, which this year features the participation of Down Sevilla as volunteers for the first time.
"Running in Seville is the dream of every fan of popular races," stated the Sports Delegate, María Tena.
The circuit, measuring 8.5 kilometres, will follow the usual streets but in the opposite direction to previous editions. The change aims to have the passage through the Arjona underpass occur on the return leg rather than the outbound leg, when the road narrows from six to three lanes, causing congestion.
The start will be organised into corrals according to participants' times in the IMD #Sevilla10 Popular Races circuit. The corral 1 will group men with times under 40 minutes and women under 46 minutes; corral 2 will accommodate the rest of the entrants. Access to the start area will open at 21:00.
The Runner's Fair, located at Torre Sevilla, will remain open until Friday, 25th September, from 11:00 to 21:00 for bib collection and race bags. On the day of the event, bib collection will be available until 21:00. The arrival of the first finishers is expected around 22:30, and the last participants around 23:30.
The event also has a charitable component. The Food Bank will have a stand at the Runner's Fair to collect milk donated by participants and visitors. Additionally, Down Sevilla will participate with around fifty volunteers, including individuals with Down syndrome and their families, in the distribution of bibs and at the refreshment station located on Muñoz León street, at the four-kilometre mark of the route. In total, more than 300 volunteers will ensure the smooth running of the race.
The mobility plan includes traffic cuts that will affect the city. The Paseo de las Delicias, from the Glorieta de los Marineros to the intersection with avenida Moliní and avenida de la Guardia Civil, will be closed to traffic from 22:00 on Thursday, 24th until 05:00 on Friday, 25th, and again from 15:30 on Friday until 06:00 on Saturday, 26th. The avenida de la Palmera, between Moliní and Cardenal Bueno Monreal, will also be closed from 15:30 on Friday until 06:00 on Saturday. Public parking areas will be made available on the roads, including the Paseo de las Delicias itself.
The complete route starts from the Paseo de las Delicias and goes through the Glorieta de Marineros, calle La Rábida, calle Palos de la Frontera, El Cid, plaza Juan de Austria, Menéndez y Pelayo, calle Recaredo, calle María Auxiliadora, Ronda de Capuchinos, calle Muñoz León, calle Parlamento de Andalucía, calle Resolana, Glorieta Duquesa Cayetana de Alba, calle Torneo, calle Arjona, Paseo de Cristóbal Colón and back to the Paseo de las Delicias to finish at the Glorieta de Marineros.
