The City Council of Seville and the brotherhoods of Arenal are organising the fourth edition of this charitable festival, which will take place from September 25 to 27 on Adriano Street. All proceeds will go to the welfare fund of the nine corporations in the area.
The IV Velá del Arenal now has a poster and dates. The district delegate for Casco Antiguo, Amidea Navarro, presented the programme for this event on Wednesday at the City Hall, which will be held from September 25 to 27 on Adriano Street, next to the Chapel of Piety of the Brotherhood of Baratillo.
This year's poster is the work of artist Rocío González and precisely depicts the façade of that chapel, the location where the velá is held each year. The presentation was attended by representatives of the local brotherhoods and the Arenal-Torre del Oro Neighbourhood Association, who collaborate in the organisation.
Music will be one of the highlights of the weekend. On Friday September 25, at 21:15, Niño Plata will perform, followed by Álvaro Carrillo at 22:30. On Saturday 26, the evening will kick off at 21:00 with Lerende and continue at 22:30 with the Coro D. Cecilio.
Navarro emphasised that this year's velá will have a strong brotherhood and bullfighting character, as it coincides with the public's exit from the bullfights of the San Miguel cycle. The delegate highlighted that the event aims to promote neighbourly coexistence in an unbeatable atmosphere.
"I encourage all neighbours and visitors to come to Adriano Street to enjoy our traditions. From the City Council, we want to thank the brotherhoods of Arenal and the Arenal-Torre del Oro Neighbourhood Association for their collaboration and effort to ensure that these days are filled with enjoyment and coexistence."
All proceeds raised during the three days will be allocated to the welfare fund of the nine brotherhoods in the area: la Carretería, el Baratillo, las Aguas, Jesús Despojado, la Soledad de San Buenaventura, Guadalupe, la Pura y Limpia, la Sacramental del Sagrario, and la Corona.
The City Council of Seville has reminded that the Velá del Arenal is an opportunity for meeting and solidarity among the neighbours of the area and for all Sevillians who wish to join. The event, now in its fourth edition, is establishing itself as a fixed date on the September calendar in Casco Antiguo.
